Manuel Antonio National Park is a wild­erness area on the Pacific Coast. It was estab­lished on Nov­ember 15, 1972. Its area en­com­pass­es 687 hectares (1,700 acres) of land mass and 55,000 hectares (135,905 acres) of marine reserve. The National Park contains some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. You will have an opportunity to observe birds, mammals, reptiles, mangroves, primary and secondary tropical rainforest, as well as the most beautiful beaches.

Caño Island Bio–reserve — Diving & Snorkeling Tour:

Just one hour South of Quepos off the coast of Uvita, divers will find the second best diving spot in all of Costa Rica: the Cano Island Biological Reserve. Located 13 miles off of the coast where the seasonal rains don't affect water clarity, the protected marine park allows for great visibility. This world class dive destination has several dive sites and you will most likely see eels, barracuda, angel and puffer fish, devil rays, turtles, and white tip reef sharks. Full day snorkeling and diving tours are available and leave from Playa Uvita. This is one of the few tours where transportation is not included, but it can be arranged separately.

Scuba & Snorkeling in Marina Ballena National Park

Also in Uvita, but much closer and great for a quicker trip or a half day tour, is the Marina Ballena National Park which provides a beautiful backdrop for snorkeling or diving. The sites located at the Ballena National Park are rich in diversity and divers will see lava rock formations with a variety of coral, sea fans, and encrusting sponges. Octupus, sea stars, moorish idols, parrot fish and damselfish are just some of the species you can see here. Half day snorkeling and diving tours are available. Transportation to Uvita is not included, but can be arranged.

Jungle & Waterfall Tour:

Skip the horses and the ATV driving and go on a private tour to the "Valley of the Waterfalls" deep in the jungle in this very unique Buggy. With room for up to 8 people, this "ATV limousine" takes you, your family or group on a private excursion to a stunning area where 6 waterfalls all come together - truly amazing! Once you arrive at the 82-acre protected nature reserve, you'll walk across the longest canopy suspension bridge in the area and enjoy a refreshing swim in the pristine waters of the natural pools at the base of a waterfall. After your swim and a mild 15 minute hike, you'll also get to experience a "natural" massage where you can stand/or sit in the Valley of the waterfalls. The tour includes lunch, a driver/guide, and lasts about 4½ hours. The tour begins and ends at the Tulemar office since ATVs and motorcycles are not allowed inside of Tulemar.

Los Quetzales National Park:

This tour provides the best opportunity to see the Resplendent Quetzal, a brilliantly feathered bird that was considered divine by Pre-Colombian peoples. Situated at an elevation of 10,000 feet above sea level, the national park is two hours by car from Manuel Antonio. This tour includes a bilingual guide and is available with or without a private driver. Temperatures are substantially cooler at this elevation, so warm clothes are advised. This private guide can accept only cash for payment.
